Relationship or Reel-ationship?

Recently, the things I'm hearing about relationships is offing me. Y'all living in Abuja what's going on? Because if the rumours are true, I wonder what will happen in the next 10 years.
What happened to the days when genuine connections was more than important in a relationship? The time when someone tells you I love you with their entire being reflecting it. C’mon love used to be more action, less words. What's happening people?
Sometime in September last year we heard 3 cases of gruesome different domestic killings in a week across the world. These were the same men that professed love to the women they slaughtered and even invited others to desecrate. At this point, what is love?
Honestly, it's so scary to enter a relationship in this generation, let alone a marriage because we have monsters clothed in human skins roaming the romantic space. People who are fractured at their core and fragmented in their mindsets because I don't understand how “Biting is my love language” is a normal conversation.
The saddest of it all is these people wear beautiful clothes, they speak like melted butter on bread, they are in positions of power, they are heads and necks of families, they are mentors, coaches. But deep down somewhere they are predators.
So I want to break tables. It used to be domestic violence right. So when did it graduate into domestic mutilation. That a man will mutilate a woman he swore to spend his life with. Now unmarried people are doing unspeakable things to each other; kickboxing, pouring acid, arranging a kidnap, mutilation and organ harvesting. What happens when they say I do? Please, they've done enough.
As much as these abound, we keep shouting without any reflection into what truly is happening. We wrongly focus on the fruits without a single look at the roots. The enemy of man, the devil is gruesomely attacking the institution of marriage.
But that did not create enough impact so he targeted the most critical point; relationships. Because relationships => marriages => families => societies => nations => world. So destroy relationships, you've destroyed the world. How do you destroy a relationship? Create a reel-ationship.
A reel-ationship is the agreement of two people with disagreeing purposes, built on deceit, no commitment, no sense of sacrifice yet sustained by fleeting moments of pleasure and social media. People in a reel-ationship share reels from social media and their lives.
A relationship is the mutual agreement of two consenting adults with a shared purpose, built on God and other eternal values and qualities while sustained by God. People in a relationship share God, purpose and a future. Their lives are relational to God and themselves. It's a trinitarian thing.
You can't be in a relationship if you don't first have a purpose for your life. Relationship is not for you if your purpose to enter is feelings. Relationship is not for you if both of you don't have unity of purpose. How do you board the same bus from Lagos when he's going to Bauchi and she's going to Ogun state while the bus is headed to Anambra. But you'll sit tight, praying for a miracle to happen.
So ask yourself, what are you in and what are you doing there? But you'll not listen. You'll still choose awwwn over awareness of self.
What's the litmus paper for knowing if you can enter a relationship? You! If you can't date yourself, don't date anyone else!
In all of these, we have the Kingdom relationship and if you're not ready for this conversation. You can leave a comment or leave. Kingdom relationships are built on God and Biblical values. My birthday was amazinggggggg. Lot of heartfelt messages from you all and may God bless you all and fill you with more joy.
I joined the Choir in my parish and honestly I am grateful to God for the opportunity to serve Him with my voice.
Novena ended yesterday. Prayers and masses have been going greatly.
Yesterday I learnt a new system to manage my responsibilities and goals in a less overwhelming way and I'm putting it into practice now. I must say it's very effective.
